Man Arrested in Crawley Murder Probe After Woman Found Stabbed
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Crawley on suspicion of murder following a shocking stabbing in the town centre early this morning. Officers were called to Station Way at around 7.10am after reports of an altercation between a man and a woman.
Victim Found With Serious Stab Wounds
On arrival, officers searched nearby and found a woman in a car park suffering serious stab injuries. Despite paramedics’ desperate efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect Quickly Caught and in Custody
Police launched a wider search and swiftly detained a man on Stephenson Road. He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
Police Promise Increased Patrols, Ask Public for Information
Superintendent Rachel Swinney described the case as “a tragic incident” and confirmed the suspect is in custody. She added: “We are working hard to understand exactly what has happened. Officers acted swiftly and we are not searching for anyone else.”
She also confirmed there will be a bigger police presence in Crawley while the investigation continues. The public are urged to speak to officers on the scene with any concerns. Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting Operation Venn.
