Major Operations Across East Sussex

Since Friday morning, WRAS has been dispatched to hotspots including Uckfield, Eastbourne, Brighton, Hove, and Haywards Heath. They rescued 81 ducks, 32 pigeons, 26 gulls, 6 foxes, 4 fallow deer, plus hedgehogs, kestrels, rabbits and more.

Founder Warns of Seasonal Wildlife Struggles

Trevor Weeks MBE, WRAS founder, revealed spring sees more prolonged rescue efforts, especially freeing deer trapped by antler snags. “It’s challenging but we’re committed to saving every creature in need,” he said.

WRAS Relies Solely on Public Donations

Weeks highlighted that WRAS receives no government or council funding. “We depend entirely on donations to keep going,” he urged. The team calls on the community to pitch in and support their life-saving work.
