Teen Murder Suspect Flees UK, Taunts Family with Chilling Message
The family of 17-year-old Ilyas Habibi are devastated after the teenager was fatally stabbed near Sutton train station. Shockingly, the alleged killer reportedly fled the country just two days after the attack and sent a cruel message mocking Ilyas’ death.
Fleeing Suspect Exploits ‘Computer Error’ to Escape
Ilyas was attacked on December 5, minutes after leaving Sutton station on his way home from college. According to his brother, the suspect slipped through the cracks because of a “computer error” that failed to alert border and immigration authorities in time.
“This was a massive blunder. They knew who it was before he disappeared. They even went to his house, but he’d already fled,” said Mr Habibi.
Family Traumatized by Mocking Message
The horror deepened when the suspect allegedly sent a cold-hearted taunt to the family, joking about leaving Ilyas “choking on his blood.” The message has left them shattered and furious, especially as they struggle for answers and feel sidelined by police.
“I’m honestly shocked,” said Mr Habibi. “We demand to know what actions are being taken, but the police won’t tell us anything.”
Police Silent as Family Demands Justice
The Metropolitan Police have refused to comment on claims that a computer error allowed the suspect’s escape. Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with assisting the offender but has since been released on bail.
The Habibi family described the trauma vividly. Ilyas’ mother spends her days in his room, often fainting from grief. His brother recalled the last time they spoke.
“He was happy, asking me to book his driving theory test. Now, all I see is an empty home and Ilyas’ face,” he said.
The investigation continues with police trawling hundreds of hours of CCTV footage. The family has pleaded for any witnesses to come forward, desperate for justice for Ilyas — a young life cruelly cut short.
