BBC’s New Christmas Special ‘Tabby McTat’ Purr-fect for the Holidays
The BBC has unveiled a sneak peek of its festive treat, “Tabby McTat” – an animated adventure set on the bustling streets of London. Based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s beloved picture book, it tells a heartwarming story about a musical cat and his busker pal, Fred.
Star Power and Feline Fun
Voiced by a star-studded cast, including Rob Brydon as Fred and Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísú as Tabby, the special also features Jodie Whittaker as the narrator. The former Doctor Who star brings her own cat-loving childhood to the role, recalling her kitten-filled bedroom and her pet Wicket W., named after an Ewok.
“The story speaks to life’s changes, family, and community – themes close to my heart,” said Whittaker.
From Busking to Christmas Magic
Author Julia Donaldson, no stranger to magic herself, shares a special bond with “Tabby McTat.” A former busker and cat fan, she now has two tabbies named after the story’s characters. The tale’s blend of street music, friendship, and furry charm is perfect festive viewing on BBC One and iPlayer.
