Two Children Injured by Rottweiler at Eastbourne Beach: Arrest Made

Sussex Police have arrested a 64-year-old man in connection with a dangerous dog incident that took place at Eastbourne Beach on May 27, near Holywell Café on King Edwards Parade. The incident, which occurred shortly after 10:20am, involved a dog, believed to be a Rottweiler, and resulted in injuries to two young children.

Following the incident, police issued CCTV footage in an appeal to identify a man they wished to speak with. Recent information led to the arrest of a local man on September 4 on suspicion of being the owner of a dog that was dangerously out of control, causing injury.

Eastbourne District Commander Chief Inspector Di Lewis commented: “This incident was reported to us in May, and following our public appeal, we recently received information identifying the person in the CCTV footage. We have now arrested a 64-year-old local man, who has been bailed pending further investigation.”

Chief Inspector Lewis also thanked the public for their assistance and urged the community to refrain from speculating on social media, reminding everyone that the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with additional information is asked to report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 404 of 27/05/2024.
