Woman Kidnapped and Assaulted in Aldershot – Police Urge Witnesses to Step Forward
Police are hunting for witnesses after a shocking assault and kidnap in Aldershot during the early hours of Wednesday, September 11.
Victim Forced Into Car and Driven Around Town
At around 4am, a woman in her 40s was attacked on Shoe Lane near the Basingstoke Canal. A man known to her forced her into a blue Renault. She was driven around the Aldershot area before being dumped back at Shoe Lane around 5:30am.
The woman then sought help from passing drivers on Farnborough Road (A325), suffering minor injuries in the process. She has since been found safe.
Suspect Arrested, Police Say No Ongoing Threat
Police arrested a 56-year-old man from Basingstoke on suspicion of assault, false imprisonment, and kidnap. He remains in custody as detectives investigate.
Detective Constable Chelsea Adamson said: “The victim and suspect were known to each other. There is no ongoing risk to the public.”
