Drunken Dog Drama Erupts in Newport Town Centre!
Police have launched an appeal after a disorderly row involving two men and a small terrier-type dog shook Newport town centre on the morning of Friday, September 13.
Rowdy Duo Under the Spotlight
At around 9.20am, officers rushed to Orchard Street and St James Street. Witnesses reported the pair behaving abusively and drunkenly towards the public, with their small dog in tow.
The men didn’t get far before cops swooped. Both were arrested at the scene.
Charges and Custody
- A 39-year-old man now faces charges of being drunk and disorderly and using threatening or abusive language.
- Their 58-year-old companion is held on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
Both are currently in police custody while investigations continue. Meanwhile, the terrier has been taken to a safe, secure location.

Officials are reviewing CCTV footage and encourage anyone who witnessed the chaotic incident to step forward.
