Belvedere Blaze Forces Factory Evacuation and Multiple Road Closures
Fire crews are battling a serious factory fire on Church Manorway, Belvedere, this morning. The blaze erupted just before 9:50am near Mulberry Way, forcing over 100 factory workers to evacuate swiftly before firefighters arrived on the scene.
Massive Response From Firefighters Across London
Teams from Erith, Plumstead, Greenwich, and nearby stations have rushed in to tackle the flames, which started on a conveyor belt inside the commercial building. A safety cordon remains firmly in place as crews work to bring the situation under control and make the scene safe.
Road Closures Cause Chaos Around Belvedere
Traffic is gridlocked with key roads shut, including:
- Mulberry Way: Closed both ways at Church Manorway.
- Lower Road: Shut between Battle Road and A2016 Bronze Age Way.
- Bronze Age Way: Closed in both directions from B253 Picardy Manorway to A206 Queens Road (Erith Roundabout).
No Injuries Reported – Emergency Services Stay on Guard
“Firefighters have been mobilised to a commercial property fire on Church Manorway,” confirmed a London Fire Brigade spokesperson. “A conveyor belt was alight. Crews are supporting emergency services and making the scene safe.”
The London Ambulance Service also attended, deploying their Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and an incident response officer. A spokesperson said, “Our crews assisted emergency services at the scene. Some have been stood down, others remain on-site.”
Thankfully, there are no reports of injuries. The incident remains ongoing as officials work to secure the area and bring the fire fully under control.
