South East Territorial Support Group Holds Annual Sports Competition in Honour of Fallen Officers

The South East Territorial Support Group (TSG) held its annual sports competition today, with all five units participating in a variety of events, including football, tug of war, volleyball, bench ball, and a timed circuit challenge. The event, which has been a tradition since 1987, serves as a tribute to PC David George, a TSG officer who tragically collapsed and died while playing American football for the Metropolitan Police.

In recent years, the competition has also been dedicated to PC Keith Palmer, a TSG officer who later transferred to the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command and heroically gave his life defending Parliament during the 2017 Westminster attack.

This year’s event was graced by the presence of retired Inspector Dave Russell, who served with the TSG in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Inspector Russell was instrumental in starting this tribute, having served alongside PC George, and his presence was a poignant reminder of the legacy these officers left behind.

After a fierce day of competition, Unit 43 (U43) emerged victorious for the fourth year in a row, securing their win through a dramatic tie-breaker.

The annual event continues to serve as a reminder of the camaraderie, dedication, and sacrifice of those who serve within the TSG, with a focus on honouring the memory of fallen colleagues.
