South East TSG Sports Showdown Honors Fallen Heroes
The South East Territorial Support Group (TSG) brought the heat at their annual sports competition today. All five units battled it out across football, tug of war, volleyball, bench ball, and a gruelling timed circuit challenge. The event dates back to 1987 and is held in memory of PC David George, a TSG officer who tragically died playing American football for the Metropolitan Police.
Paying Tribute to Fallen Officers
In recent years, the competition also honours PC Keith Palmer, a TSG officer who bravely lost his life defending Parliament during the 2017 Westminster terror attack. His sacrifice remains a powerful reminder of the risks police face daily.
Legendary Figure Joins the Action
This year saw retired Inspector Dave Russell in attendance. Having served with the TSG through the late 1980s and early 1990s, Russell helped kick off this tribute event after serving alongside PC George. His presence was a touching nod to the deep legacy left behind by these fallen officers.
Unit 43 Secures Fourth Straight Win in Nail-Biting Finish
The competition was fierce, but Unit 43 (U43) clinched victory for the fourth year running. The final was decided in a dramatic tie-breaker, proving their determination and skill remain unmatched.
The annual TSG sports event is far more than a contest. It’s a powerful tribute to camaraderie, sacrifice, and the indomitable spirit of those who serve.
