Peanut Allergy Alert: Avoid Mustard Products Now!

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a red alert for anyone with a peanut allergy. Contaminated mustard ingredients could be putting you at serious risk.

Contaminated Mustard Linked to Peanut Danger

The toxic trace points to GT Agro Industries in India, whose mustard, mustard powder, and mustard flour have sneaked into UK foods. Think dips, sauces, salads, and even pre-packed sandwiches.

FGS Ingredients Ltd is named as the UK supplier doling out these risky ingredients. Good news? No sign of other suppliers being affected yet. But the FSA is playing it safe because peanut allergies can be deadly.

Check Labels, Stay Safe!

  • The FSA is teaming up with Local Authorities and food companies to track down tainted products.
  • If you’ve got a peanut allergy, scrutinise every food label for mustard – it’s legally flagged as an allergen.
  • Restaurants and food outlets must give clear allergen info on request, so always ask when eating out.

Rebecca Sudworth, FSA’s Director of Food Policy, warns: “Those with a peanut allergy should avoid consuming products containing mustard until we identify the specific products affected. We urge consumers to check labels and ask about ingredients when eating out.”

Stay Alert for Updates and Allergies

The investigation is ongoing. The FSA promises to blast out specific allergy alerts for any tainted items found.
