Teen Girl Sentenced Over Violent Aldershot Hotel Protest

A 13-year-old girl from Aldershot has been handed a 12-month referral order for her part in violent disorder at a protest outside Potters International Hotel on July 31.

The teenager, who cannot be named, was among roughly 200 protesters. While most kept calm, a smaller group turned violent, hurling objects and banging on hotel doors. The girl was caught on video violently kicking the doors, leading to her charge.

She pleaded guilty to violent disorder at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on August 13 and now must meet regularly with Hampshire Youth Justice Service as part of her sentence.

Four Men Jailed for Same Protest Violence

Her sentencing follows the jailing of four men involved in the same incident, all pleading guilty to violent disorder:

  • Cameron Bowling, 41, Farnborough – 2 years in prison
  • Clive Patfield, 60, Farnham – 2 years in prison
  • Kieron Marney, 25, Ash – 2 years 3 months in prison
  • Perrie Fisher, 28, Farnham – 29 months for violent disorder and failing to surrender to bail

Additionally, Alby Brannan, 18, of Ash, awaits sentencing on November 29 after pleading guilty. Jamie Lee Turvey, 34, of Farnborough, denies the charges and will face trial in April 2025.

Police Warn: No Tolerance for Violence at Protests

Assistant Chief Constable Paul Bartolomeo said:

“The majority of people who attended this protest in Aldershot were respectful, however, the girl was part of a smaller group that chose to act in an aggressive manner. While we appreciate her age, the girl’s behaviour was still completely unacceptable and her actions caused fear of violence to those inside the hotel and our officers.”

He added:

“This result highlights that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and it is a clear message that these actions have consequences.”

The violent protest drew significant police attention and authorities warn that any similar conduct at future protests will face swift legal action.
