Warminster Man Locked Up for Brutal Domestic Abuse Spree

A 23-year-old Warminster man has been slammed with a jail term totalling two years and four months for a shocking string of domestic abuse crimes.

Owen Coombs’ Violent Rampage

Owen Coombs, from Kings Court, Warminster, faced justice at Swindon Magistrates Court on October 3rd. He was convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), battery, and possession of a Class B drug. Alongside his sentence, Coombs is slapped with a five-year restraining order.

The offences stem from a brutal incident on August 26, 2024. Following a verbal scrap, Coombs violently grabbed his victim through a window and punched her in the face. The victim also reported a theft during the altercation.

Harsh Sentencing for Coercion and Violence

  • 2 years for coercive and controlling behaviour
  • 4 months consecutive for ABH
  • 1 month concurrent for battery
  • No separate penalty for drug possession

Investigator Praises Victim’s Courage

“Coercive control has a significant impact on a person and often causes long-term adverse effects on their emotional well-being. This can make it harder for a victim to come forward, and I would like to thank the victim for their bravery in assisting our investigation,” said local Crime Investigator Amanda Southey.

Southey added, “Without the victim’s courage in reporting the incidents to police, it would have been tough to secure this sentence against Coombs.”
