Police Investigate CS Gas Incident in Hornchurch, Seven Treated by Ambulance Crews

On Wednesday, 9 October, at 1.13pm police were called to Wych Elm Road in Hornchurch following reports that CS gas had been released in the area. Officers arrived on the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service, which treated one adult and six teenagers affected by the gas.

Fortunately, there were no life-changing or life-threatening injuries reported. The individuals were assessed by ambulance crews and later discharged at the scene.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service confirmed their swift response:

“We were called at 1:20 pm today to reports of an incident in Wych Elm Road, Hornchurch. We sent several resources, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), and an incident response officer. Our first crew arrived within four minutes. Our teams assessed one adult and six teenagers before discharging them at the scene.”

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the release of the CS gas is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine how the substance was deployed.

The public is being advised to remain cautious, and anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the police.
