The collision in the village of Mullion also left 27 children on the school bus with minor injuries, while another child was seriously hurt.
A one-year-old boy and a woman have died following a crash involving a car and a double-decker school bus in Cornwall.
Police were alerted to the collision on Meaver Road, in the village of Mullion, at 8:40 am on Monday. The victims, a woman in her 30s and a one-year-old boy, were travelling in a Vauxhall Astra involved in the crash. They were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday, the woman succumbed to her injuries, and the boy, who had been in a serious condition, also tragically passed away. Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the news on Friday, stating, “Both have now tragically passed away in hospital. The next of kin is aware.”
The school bus, carrying 27 children, saw most of its passengers sustain minor injuries, while one child suffered more serious injuries that, according to police, are not life-threatening.
Sergeant Phil Brown expressed his condolences, saying, “We are deeply saddened that a woman and child have now died following the collision in Mullion earlier this week. It is impossible to put into words the grief those close to them are feeling right now. Our thoughts continue to be with everybody involved as we continue to work with the school and partners to make sure everybody receives the support they require following this tragic collision.
