Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Farringdon Stabbing

A 20-year-old man has died after being stabbed in Farringdon last Friday, October 18. The Metropolitan Police have charged a 26-year-old man with murder following the tragic incident.

Stabbing Incident at Back Hill

Police were called to Back Hill, Farringdon, at around 9:36pm on October 18 after reports of a moped crashing into a wall. When officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics arrived, they found the victim with stab wounds as well as injuries from the collision.

The victim was rushed to hospital but sadly died from his injuries on Monday, October 21. Police are supporting his family and awaiting confirmation that all relatives have been informed before releasing his name.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Oguzcan Dereli, 26, from Islington, was arrested on Sunday, October 20. He was charged with murder the following day and is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court at 10am on Tuesday, October 22.

Police Appeal and Community Support

“A young man has tragically died in this incident, and our thoughts go out to the victim’s friends and family at this terribly sad time,” said Superintendent Jack Rowlands, leading the investigation in Camden. “We made a quick arrest and brought murder charges as we push this inquiry forward. We understand the local community is in shock, but we’re determined to deliver justice and support the neighbourhood throughout this difficult period.”
