Teen Found Guilty of Murdering Hackney Mum in Shocking Shooting
A 17-year-old boy has been convicted at the Old Bailey for the brutal murder of 42-year-old Lianne Gordon. The mum-of-two was fatally shot outside her Hackney home in December 2023. The teen, whose name is withheld by law, was found guilty of murder alongside multiple other serious charges, including attempted murder and firearm offences. He is set to be sentenced on 2 December.
Deadly Gang Violence Spills into Family Home
On the evening of 5 December, police rushed to Vine Close, Hackney, after reports of gunfire. Emergency crews found three victims with gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Lianne died at the scene from a headshot. Two others—a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy—were hospitalised but survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
Court heard Lianne had been caught in the crossfire while sheltering behind her front door. The shots were aimed at two men nearby, believed to be caught up in a gang dispute. Tragically, she was struck before she could escape the violence.
Forensic Evidence Ties Teen to Murder Scene
The teenager was arrested three days after the shooting at his home. Police seized Class A drugs, a machete, a “burner phone,” and drug paraphernalia. Forensic tests matched shell casings, glove residue, and DNA to the defendant. Investigators also uncovered chilling internet searches about the shooting and disturbing self-glorifying song lyrics related to the murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke said: “The defendant was a known gang member with previous ties to drugs and violence. Lianne Gordon was a mother of two who was senselessly killed. This conviction ensures he will no longer threaten our community.”
Police Vow to Crack Down on Gun Crime
Assistant Chief Superintendent Brigid Beehag-Fisher added: “While this verdict cannot bring Lianne back to her family, it offers some closure to loved ones and the community. We remain determined to tackle gun crime and serious violence in London. Today’s result is a testament to our relentless efforts to remove dangerous individuals from the streets.”
Authorities urge the public to report knowledge of weapons or violent crime—either directly or anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers—to help prevent further tragedies.
