Ex-Sussex Cop Faces Rape and Assault Charges
Former Sussex Police officer PC Christopher Mallet is set to stand trial after being charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The shocking offences allegedly took place in May 2019 when Mallet, 40, was off-duty and met the victim through a dating app.
Court Date Set for November
Mallet, who served as a constable in Horsham, will appear at Guildford" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Guildford Magistrates’ Court on 26 November. The case has been under investigation since 2019, following a mandatory conduct referral lodged by Sussex Police.
Investigation and Charges
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) wrapped up its probe in March 2021 and handed over evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which authorised the charges. Sussex Police have not made a comment yet. Mallet is no longer with the force.
