Gun Scare Outside Liverpool Mosque as Masked Men Strike
Merseyside Police have launched an urgent probe after a terrifying gun incident rocked the Al Rahma Mosque in Toxteth, Liverpool. The drama unfolded just after 2pm on Friday, November 22, as worshippers were leaving afternoon prayers.
Masked Men Pull Gun at Mosque Entrance
Two men cycled down Hatherley Street from Mulgrave Road, near the mosque. Witnesses say one suspect jumped off his bike and sprinted toward two others outside the mosque, who immediately bolted inside for safety.
The suspect then brandished a gun at the mosque’s doorstep but, shockingly, didn’t fire. According to reports, the firearm was jammed.
The duo quickly rode off towards Grafton Street. Miraculously, no one was hurt.
Mosque Leaders Demand Action as Violence Rises
The Liverpool Muslim Society slammed the terrifying episode. A spokesperson said:
“The doorstep of Liverpool’s Grand Mosque became a danger zone, threatening peaceful worshippers. We thank Allah no one was harmed as the weapon was reportedly jammed.”
They warned of escalating knife and gun crime in the area and urged community leaders and authorities to step up efforts to tackle this deadly trend.
Police Crack Down with Patrols and Door-to-Door Enquiries
Merseyside Police stepped up patrols and launched a full investigation. Detectives are scouring CCTV and knocking on neighbours’ doors for clues.
Detective Superintendent Steve Reardon commented:
“This happened just as afternoon prayers were ending and will have alarmed everyone who saw it. Firearms have no place on our streets. We’re determined to catch those responsible and take them off our streets.”
