Man Stabbed in Brutal Peckham Shop Attack

Police are hunting a suspect after a 62-year-old man was viciously stabbed inside a Peckham shop on Rye Lane.

Attack Details

The shocking incident unfolded at around 10:27pm on Thursday, 5 December, when the victim was attacked inside a busy shop.

Officers who rushed to the scene found the man with life-threatening wounds to his neck and thigh. He was quickly taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

Suspect Description

The attacker is described as a black man, about 5ft 4in tall, in his 40s, with a stocky build and short beard.

He was seen wearing a black jacket with printed wording on it at the time.

Police Plea for Witnesses

Detective Constable Jacob Ludlam said: “We urge anyone who was in Peckham Rye that night to think back and contact us if you saw or heard anything suspicious.”

“The attack appears to be unprovoked and took place opposite John The Unicorn pub. If you were nearby or know someone who was, please get in touch.”

“Call 101 quoting reference 01/1168928/24 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Any info could be vital.”

Police are especially keen to hear from anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage, or details of the suspect near the shop or pub.

The investigation is ongoing, and officers are determined to bring the attacker to justice.
