Over 190 migrants have been rescued recently from perilous Channel waters, highlighting the deadly risks faced by those desperate to reach UK shores. Just last week, 1,163 people made the hazardous crossing by small boat.
Since records began in January 2018, more than 150,000 migrants have braved the dangerous journey across the Channel.
Channel Crossings Surge Despite Deadly Dangers
This year alone, 36,204 arrivals have been recorded in the UK, marking a 23% increase from last year, though still down 21% compared to 2022. Experts and officials repeatedly warn how treacherous the Channel becomes, especially in winter’s freezing, choppy waters.
