Southampton Man Charged with Terrorism Offences Ahead of 2025 Trial
A 29-year-old from Southampton is locked up and facing serious terrorism charges. Abdullah Bellil, of East Street, is accused of distributing terrorist materials and backing the banned terror group ISIS. His trial is set for January 2025 at London’s Central Criminal Court.
Four Terror Charges Laid
- Distributing terrorist publications on 31 October 2024
- Distributing terrorist publications on 18 September 2024
- Distributing terrorist publications on 20 July 2023, with claims he recklessly encouraged terrorism
- Expressing support for ISIS on 19 May 2024
These charges come under the Terrorism Acts of 2000 and 2006, laws designed to crack down hard on terror support and propaganda.
Bail Denied Over Flight Risk
Bellil appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on December 27. Judges refused bail, citing fears he might flee or commit further offences given the gravity of the accusations and his weak community ties. He remains in custody as he awaits trial.
Trial Set for January 2025
The case will be heard by a jury starting at 10:00 AM on January 17, 2025, at the Central Criminal Court, known as the Old Bailey. Bellil has not yet entered a plea.
