Police Arrest 80-Year-Old on Suspicion of Murder After Man in His 70s Found Dead in Aylesbury

An 80-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his 70s was found with serious injuries at a flat in Aylesbury and later died.

Thames Valley Police confirmed that officers were called to a property on Silverdale Close at 4:20 p.m. on January 4, 2025, where paramedics were attempting to save the victim. Despite their efforts, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The arrested man, who is from Aylesbury, remains in police custody as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have confirmed that the two men were known to each other, and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case.

Murder Investigation Launched

A crime scene cordon remains in place while forensic teams examine the area. Detective Inspector Nick Hind, of the Major Crime Unit, offered condolences to the victim’s family and reassured the public that there is no wider risk to the community.

“We have launched a murder investigation and I recognise the concern this will cause in the local community. However, we have made an arrest and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident,” DI Hind said.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing, and a scene will remain in place for some time while our investigation continues. We would apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.”
