Manhunt Underway for Wife Suspect in California Fire Captain Murder

Fire Captain Found Stabbed in Home

An intense manhunt is raging for Yolanda Marodi, 53, accused of fatally stabbing her wife, California Fire Captain Rebecca Marodi, 49. Rebecca was discovered with multiple stab wounds inside their Ramona residence on Monday night.

Emergency crews arrived at 8:58pm and found Rebecca gravely injured. Despite rushed life-saving attempts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Prime Suspect With Violent Record on the Run

The San Diego Sheriff’s Office named Yolanda the prime suspect on Thursday and issued a public alert. Authorities warn she is armed and dangerous and at large.

  • Age: 53
  • Height: 5’2”
  • Weight: 166 lbs
  • Brown hair

Court records reveal Yolanda, also known as Yolanda Olenjniczak, has a dark past. In 2000, she was convicted of felony voluntary manslaughter involving a deadly weapon and jailed in 2004. The length of her previous prison term remains undisclosed.

“Yolanda Marodi has been identified as the suspect. She remains on the run. We urge the public to be vigilant and report any sightings immediately,” said sheriff’s homicide detectives.

Love Turns Deadly in Shocking Domestic Tragedy

The couple appeared devoted, publicly sharing their life together since 2022, including a joyful engagement post from Yolanda praising Rebecca’s “unconditional love.”

“No words can express the joy and profound happiness I experience every day by her side,” Yolanda wrote on Instagram.

However, investigators now believe domestic violence played a crucial role in the murder.

“We are treating this as a potential domestic violence incident. The victim knew her killer,” said the sheriff’s office.

Tributes Flood In for Beloved Fire Captain

Rebecca Marodi was a respected firefighter with over 30 years in Cal Fire, known for bravery and leadership. She was due to retire this year.

Cal Fire praised her dedication to peer support and hazardous materials safety, calling her a mentor and role model. She was one of the heroes battling the deadly Eaton Fire earlier this year, which destroyed thousands of homes and claimed 17 lives.

“She was courageous, compassionate, and selfless. A true inspiration to us all,” said Cal Fire Battalion Chief Paul Selegue.

Police Warn Public: Do Not Approach Suspect

The manhunt continues with authorities urging anyone who spots Yolanda to call 911 immediately and not attempt to confront her.
