Just before 5:30pm on Saturday, frantic 999 calls flooded in after eyewitnesses spotted flames roaring from the rundown hotel at the busy Broadway and Carter Street junction. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue rushed several fire engines to the scene, battling to bring the inferno under control.
