A man in his 40s is fighting for life after a horror moped crash on the A2 in Blackheath at around 4:15 AM this Monday (February 24).
Solo Crash on Shooters Hill Road Sparks Emergency Rush
The smash happened on Shooters Hill Road near Maze Hill. Emergency services – including the Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance – scrambled to the scene after the collision was reported.
Paramedics found the rider with life-threatening injuries and rushed him to hospital. Police have confirmed no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Road Closures Cause Commute Chaos
Shooters Hill Road is shut both ways between Charlton Way and Stratheden Road as cops investigate. The closure has caused major traffic snarls during the morning rush-hour, with drivers urged to take alternate routes.

“Police were called to a collision involving a moped in Shooters Hill, SE10 around 04:15hrs on Monday 24 February. Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. One man in his 40s was taken to hospital where his injuries are thought to be life-threatening. No other vehicle was involved,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
“Anyone with information, including dashcam footage which may have captured the incident, is asked to call 111 quoting reference 712/24FEB.”
The investigation is ongoing as police work to piece together exactly what happened. Motorists are warned to steer clear of the area while emergency teams carry out their work, and locals are asked to stay patient amid delays.
