The first picture has been released of a ‘fantastic mother’ who tragically died after being struck by a Tesco lorry outside the café where she worked in Hackney.

The victim, known to friends as Lili, lived with her young son less than half a mile from the crash site on Mare Street. Flowers, candles, and heartfelt messages have been left outside the café where she worked as a tribute to her life.

Fatal Collision on Mare Street

The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 AM on Monday, March 3. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Lili was pronounced dead at the location. Witnesses described scenes of panic and devastation as bystanders watched in horror.

A shop worker in the area recalled: “I heard a shout, looked out, and saw panicked people looking at a person lying in the road. There was a lorry at a strange angle. One man who was close to it looked so pale, like the blood had been drained from him. It was just horrific.”

Remembering Lili

Lili, originally from Moldova, had lived in London for over a decade. A close friend and neighbour, revealed,  “I am in total shock. She was a fantastic mother and lovely person. Her son is devastated. We have been neighbours for a long time, and I just can’t believe she has gone.”

Investigation Underway

The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 8:00 AM on Monday to reports of a lorry in collision with a pedestrian in Mare Street, Hackney. Emergency services attended. Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, sadly, the female pedestrian died at the scene.”
