Ryanair pilots die in horror M62 taxi crash

Tragic crash claims two young pilots’ lives

Captain Matt Greenhalgh, 28, and Senior First Officer Jamie Fernandes, 24, have been identified as the two Ryanair crew killed in a deadly M62 collision. The pair were headed to Liverpool Airport when their taxi smashed into two lorries at around 5:30 AM on Thursday, between Junctions 7 and 8.

Tributes pour in for the fallen airmen

Greenhalgh, from Stockport, was a married man and an active rugby player for Marple Rugby Club, which paid tribute following the tragedy. Fernandes joined Ryanair in 2022 and held a degree in air transport management from Buckinghamshire New University.
