Man struck by train at Canada Water station – non-life-threatening injuries

Emergency rush as man hit by train at Canada Water

A man was rushed to hospital this morning after being hit by a train at Canada Water Underground station. The incident unfolded shortly after 10am on March 10 at Deal Porters Way when emergency services were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Swift action by British Transport Police and London Ambulance

British Transport Police (BTP) and London Ambulance Service (LAS) responded immediately. Paramedics treated the man at the scene before speeding him by road to a major trauma centre. Thankfully, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 10am today (10 March) at Canada Water Underground Station. Officers and paramedics attended and a person has been taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life changing or threatening. The incident is not thought to be suspicious.” – British Transport Police spokesperson

Major disruption on Overground network

Police and paramedics descended with a heavy emergency response including paramedics in fast response cars, HART paramedics, and London’s Air Ambulance.

“Our first paramedics arrived in five minutes. We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre by road.” – London Ambulance Service spokesperson

All Overground lines between Dalston Junction and Surrey Quays have been suspended, causing major delays. Transport for London warns disruption will last until at least 1pm.
