Police are Appealing After Body of Woman Found in River Mersey, Chorlton

Emergency services responded at approximately 11:10 am on Thursday, 21 March 2024, after reports that a deceased female had been found in the river in the Chorlton-cum-Hardy area.
Despite thorough investigative efforts, including specialist forensic examinations, DNA analysis, and extensive searches of missing persons records, police have not yet been able to establish the woman’s identity. The exact cause of death, as well as her age and ethnicity, also remain unknown due to the amount of time the body spent in the water.

The woman is described as approximately 5 feet 1 inch (156 cm) tall, with a slim build and medium-length dark brown hair.
Investigators have released images and details of clothing found on the woman, hoping they may prompt recognition from the public. The clothing includes:
- A lime-green Primark-branded crop-top.
- Blue jeans, branded “New Look – Jenna,” size UK 8 (EU 36, USA 4).
- Green non-slip style socks.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who recognises these items or who may have information relating to the woman’s identity or the circumstances of her death. Police are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who has relevant CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage captured around Chorlton Water Park or nearby areas.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Greater Manchester Police by calling 101, quoting incident details, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
