Couple Arrested with £51,000 Worth of Cocaine in Bognor Regis Sting
BMW Stop Uncovers Major Drug Haul
Police stopped a white BMW on the A259 in Bognor Regis on November 20, 2020. Inside were Kevin Griffin, 42, and his partner Sam Halliwell, 32, both from Yapton. Their arrest sparked a full investigation.
Half a Kilo of Cocaine and Cash Recovered
Officers searched the couple’s home and found nearly half a kilogramme of cocaine, valued at £51,000. They also seized close to £8,000 in cash, along with weapons and drug paraphernalia.
Local Drug Supply Revealed
Investigators uncovered that Griffin and Halliwell were supplying cocaine to local users. Orders and deliveries were arranged via mobile phone.
Sentenced But Avoid Jail…For Now
At Portsmouth Crown Court on June 16, both admitted guilt early. They were handed two-year prison sentences, suspended for two years. A Proceeds of Crime hearing will follow to seize their ill-gotten gains.
“We will continue to target those within our community who seek to cause harm by supplying illegal drugs,” said Detective Inspector Alan Pack of the West Sussex Community Investigation Team. “We rely on the public for assistance, and encourage anyone with information about drug abuse to report it online or by calling 101. The increased police activity results in safer streets for all of us.”
