Armed police descended on Upminster railway station after reports of a man acting suspiciously, prompting a large emergency response on Sunday evening (16 March).

The British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the scene at around 7pm following concerns raised about the behaviour of an individual inside the station on Station Road.

Despite the heavy police presence and a thorough search of the station, no trace of the suspect was found.

A British Transport Police spokesperson confirmed:

“Officers were called to Upminster railway station at around 7pm on Sunday (16 March) following reports of a man acting suspiciously in the station.
Officers attended, including firearms officers, and conducted a thorough search of the station, but no trace of the person was found.”
