A man has been rushed to hospital after a stabbing in Woolwich on Thursday afternoon, prompting a large emergency response and public concern across social media.
One local, Amz Roxy Chamberlain Cook, posted: “It’s by the old public market place. Just gone past on a 244. All taped off and loads of police.”

Others expressed concern and confusion, with some residents not initially hearing sirens or noticing disruption. One commenter, Wendy Lloyd, wrote: “Omg never stops. Hope the person is ok.”

The online reaction included frustration about rising violence in the area. Adrian Atkins commented: “Really getting tired of the stabbings. All the money spent on Woolwich is wasted as this is what they remember.”
An LAS spokesperson told UK News In Pictures: “We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and a paramedic from our tactical response unit.
The Metropolitan Police have not yet released an official statement on the incident or whether any arrests have been made. The area remained cordoned off throughout the afternoon as enquiries continued.
