Murder Probe Launched After Shocking Brighton Attack
A man is dead and two others seriously hurt after a brutal assault inside a Brighton home early this morning. Police have launched a murder investigation following the horrific incident on Hartfield Avenue.
Man Killed, Woman and Child Seriously Injured
Emergency services were called just before 7:30am after reports of a man “going berserk” inside the property. Officers discovered a 57-year-old man with serious injuries. Despite paramedics’ efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman and a boy were also found seriously injured in the house and rushed to hospital. Their conditions remain unknown.
Teen Arrested as Police Hunt Ends
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody. Sussex Police confirmed they are not searching for anyone else in connection with the attack.
Chief Superintendent Rachel Carr said: “Following an emergency call, officers responded immediately to Hartfield Avenue, where tragically a man was found dead, and a woman and child seriously injured. A suspect is in custody, and a fast-moving investigation is underway. We understand this is shocking for the community, but there is no wider threat at this time.”
Street Sealed Off as Forensics Sweep Scene
Hartfield Avenue was lined with police cars this morning. Forensic teams combed the property for clues. Neighbours reported hearing shouting and described the suspect as “going berserk” before police arrived.
