Cleveland Police have launched an appeal for information following a break-in at a Hartlepool butchers shop during the Easter bank holiday weekend, which saw charity boxes stolen.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said:
“Anyone with information or doorbell, dashcam or private CCTV footage which could help is urged to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number, quoting reference 070898.”
They added that those who prefer not to speak directly to police can report information anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers by visiting www.crimestoppers-uk.org or calling 0800 555 111.
The incident has caused upset in the local community, with many expressing outrage that donations intended to support good causes were targeted. Residents and nearby businesses are now being encouraged to check their security footage for anything suspicious.
Police enquiries are ongoing.
