Brother and Sister Found Dead in Thamesmead Flat: Suicide Pact Suspected

A grim discovery in Thamesmead has left police probing a suspected suicide pact. Siblings Michelle Mileham, 51, and Gordon Mileham, 53, were found dead in Michelle’s flat on Holstein Way, Buckwheat Court, earlier this year.

Bodies Found After Social Worker Raises Alarm

The tragic scene unfolded on Tuesday, March 11, after a social worker grew concerned when Michelle hadn’t been seen for some time. Emergency services, including London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade, forced entry into the property and found the pair deceased.

Post-Mortem Reveals Fatal Stab Wounds

At the inquest held on April 30 at South London Coroner’s Court in Croydon, it was confirmed both siblings died from stab injuries.

“It would appear there was some sort of suicide pact between the two of them,” said Detective Constable Benedict Harrington, who is leading the investigation.

The court heard chilling details: Michelle had attempted suicide by overdose last July, with Gordon reportedly helping her acquire the drugs. He also took a large quantity himself at the time.

“We’re investigating whether this latest incident was another suicide attempt – with him stabbing her and then taking his own life,” DC Harrington added.

Knife Found at Scene as Police Await Forensic Results

Police recovered a knife at the flat and are awaiting toxicology reports and a forensic examination of the weapon. So far, no signs of third-party involvement have emerged, but detectives remain cautious.

Senior Coroner Sarah Ormond-Walshe has formally opened and adjourned the inquest to allow time for further enquiries.
