Brazilian police say they have thwarted a bomb plot aimed at Lady Gaga’s historic concert on Copacabana beach, where over two million fans were expected to gather, marking the singer’s largest show ever.
Authorities revealed that the plan was orchestrated by an extremist group promoting hate speech and the radicalisation of teenagers. Shockingly, the recruiters posed online as “Little Monsters,” a term used for Gaga’s loyal fanbase.
Federal police launched the operation after monitoring encrypted communications for several weeks. Investigators uncovered that the group had been plotting to plant explosive devices among the concertgoers, potentially causing mass casualties.
“This was a serious threat to public safety,” said Chief Inspector Mariana Duarte. “The suspects manipulated teenagers into believing they were part of a special ‘mission’ for Lady Gaga, exploiting their devotion to her.”
Six individuals have been arrested across multiple Brazilian states, and authorities are investigating potential international links. Police said they seized homemade explosive materials, hate propaganda, and communication devices used to plan the attack.
