A huge shed fire in Hildenborough sparked a huge emergency response this Thursday afternoon. Thick smoke billowed over Tonbridge and Malling, forcing firefighters and police into action.
Firefighters Battle Blaze with Full Force
Kent Fire and Rescue Service raced to the scene just after 3:20 PM on 8 May, sending three fire engines. Crews decked out in breathing apparatus blasted the flames with main jets and high-pressure hose reels. The heavy smoke led to urgent warnings for locals to keep windows and doors shut for their safety.
Police Assist as Smoke Chokes the Area
Kent Police also attended to help manage the incident and keep the public safe. Emergency services warned residents to spread the word, urging anyone without internet access to stay indoors and keep ventilation closed to avoid smoke inhalation.
Fire Fully Extinguished, Cause Under Investigation
By 6:30 PM, Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed the fire was out and lifted all safety warnings. Miraculously, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“Residents were advised to close windows and doors due to heavy smoke,” Kent Fire said.
