Second Major Blaze Hits Wanstead Flats in Just 24 Hours
A massive fire has erupted on Wanstead Flats for the second time in a day. Ten fire engines and about 70 firefighters are battling the flames.
Emergency Crews Swarm the Scene
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) revealed they got 37 emergency calls starting at 1:32pm today (12 August). Firefighters from Leytonstone, Hainault, Woodford, Walthamstow, and nearby stations rushed to the scene.
Residents Urged to Steer Clear
People living nearby have been warned to avoid the area while crews tackle the blaze. The fire’s cause remains a mystery.
Yesterday’s Fire Was Just the Start
This latest inferno follows another serious fire on Wanstead Flats yesterday evening, which also demanded a large emergency response.
“Crews are working hard in challenging conditions to stop the spread of the fire. Please keep doors and windows closed if you live nearby,” a Fire Brigade spokesperson said.
Wanstead Flats, a beloved spot for walkers and dog owners, is especially prone to fires during hot, dry spells. Authorities remain on high alert as the blaze rages on.
