Home Office Cracks Down on Illegal Workers Across UK
The Home Office has swooped on 85 illegal workers in a major nationwide blitz targeting dodgy businesses hiring migrants unlawfully. Over one intense week from August 18 to 24, Immigration Enforcement teams raided 275+ premises, with car washes particularly in the spotlight.
135 Businesses Hit with Notices Over Illegal Labour
More than 135 firms were slapped with notices for employing illegal workers. Many of these workers had sneaked into the UK illegally, overstayed visas, or hopped in on visitor status. Found living in squalid onsite conditions, they earned peanuts—well below the minimum wage—and worked hours that broke the law.
Home Secretary Vows to Shut Down Smuggling Gangs
“It is completely wrong that dodgy employers can work hand-in-glove with the 123, ensuring support for victims, and making sure lawbreakers face tough consequences.”
This crackdown is a key strike in the government’s ongoing battle to end illegal employment and protect exploited migrants across Britain.
