Dim-Witted Burglar Nabbed After Bizarre Portsmouth Nightclub Heist
A bungling burglar has been caught red-handed after a break-in at The Astoria nightclub in Portsmouth. The thief was spotted loitering outside The Lyberry bar before door staff swooped and detained him.
Thief Admits to Raid on Premium Stock
Wearing body-worn cameras, security caught the culprit in the act. He confessed to the burglary, admitting he broke into the club early morning and stole over £2,000 worth of premium stock.
Damage Costs Pile Up to Over £5,000
Club manager Alistair Ritchie revealed the thief forced open till drawers, but luckily no cash was inside. However, the damage to the venue, combined with lost stock, has pushed costs past £5,000.
Police Describe Suspect as ‘Not the Sharpest Tool in the Box’
The dim-witted crook is now helping police with their inquiries at Portsmouth Central Police Station. An officer quipped,
