Three Arrested After 100-Strong Protest at Horley Hotel
Chaos erupted outside the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Horley today as around 100 protesters gathered, sparking police to make three arrests.
Counter-Protest Sparks Police Action
About 30 counter-demonstrators showed up, prompting officers to step in and manage both groups to uphold the right to peaceful protest. Despite most protesters behaving, two were arrested for breach of the peace, while a third was detained for violating a Community Protection Notice. All remain in custody.
Chief Superintendent Speaks Out on Disruptions
“Our officers were outside the hotel this morning to support the public’s right to lawful protest. Unfortunately, while the majority of those present were protesting lawfully, some individuals became disruptive and were arrested,” said Chief Superintendent Juliet Parker.
“Officers were also there to reduce disruption for the local community. We know the protest caused some road chaos around the hotel and thank everyone affected for their patience.”
Police Warn Against Disorder
Police have vowed to keep supporting peaceful protests but stressed that any criminal acts or public disorder won’t be tolerated. The message is clear: lawful voices are welcome, troublemakers won’t get off lightly.
