Chaos erupted on the M2 motorway in Kent tonight (Friday, 29 August) after a car slammed into an ambulance at the junction with the A278 Hoath Way. The ambulance was left tipped over on its side. Fortunately, it’s believed the vehicle was not carrying a patient at the time. The condition of the ambulance crew is still unknown.

Police Launch Urgent Probe as Car Driver Flees Scene

Kent Police confirmed they were called to the crash at 8.55pm. Officers, along with other emergency services, rushed to the scene. A specialist Collision Investigation Unit, National Police Air Service (NPAS), and police drones are now combing the area after reports the car driver fled.

Kent Police was called at 8.55pm on Friday 29 August to a report that a car had struck an ambulance at the junction of the M2 and the A278 Hoath Way.

Officers are currently attending the scene alongside other emergency services. Junctions 4 and 5 of the M2 are currently closed whilst the incident is responded to, and drivers are advised to find alternative routes.”

Road Closures Cause Local Chaos

The crash has forced the closure of Junctions 4 and 5 on the M2, as well as the eastbound exit slip road at Junction 4 and the A278 Hoath Way. National Highways warns the shutdown could last several hours, with drivers urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
