A 21-year-old man has been slapped with a suspended jail sentence after a dangerous police Chasechase involving tailgating and speeding past an unmarked police car.
Tailgating and Overtaking in a 30mph Zone
Jake King, from Maunder Close, england/england/england/wincanton/”>wincanton/”>Wincanton, drove like a maniac on the A30 near <a href="/where/england/Ludwell on September 27th. Officers from the County Local Policing Tasking Team spotted King tailgating their unmarked police vehicle. But it didn’t stop there – King then sped past them in a strict 30mph zone, breaking the <a href="/where/Lawlaw blatantly.
Multiple Offences Land Him in Hot Water
King’s joyride ended quickly when police pulled him <a href="/where/Overover. Initially refusing to give his details, King soon admitted to driving while disqualified and without insurance. He was also caught using false number plates and had a blade in the car – a serious offence. Officers found his vehicle unroadworthy, with exposed tyre cords on the front tyres, and seized the car on the spot.
Sentence and Police Response
<a href="/where/Swindon Magistrates’ Court sentenced King to five months in jail, suspended for 18 months. He must also complete 30 rehabilitation activity days.
“Despite driving on false plates and without both a licence and insurance, King drove very recklessly by overtaking what turned out to be an unmarked police vehicle in a 30mph zone. He was also found to be in possession of a knife,” said PC Hughes from the County LPTT. “There is <a href="/where/No Placeno place for this type of criminality in Wiltshire and we will continue to be robust with those found to be breaking the <a href="/where/Lawlaw.”
Wiltshire Police are sending a clear message: reckless driving, forged documents, and dangerous weapons will not be tolerated on their roads.
