Seventh Arrest Made in Southampton Boxer’s Murder Case
Operation Windless: More Suspects Busted
Detectives probing the murder of Southampton boxer Michael Freshwater have arrested a seventh suspect. A 25-year-old man was held on Wednesday, May 4, over perverting the course of justice.
Michael’s body was discovered at a Westridge Road address just after 4.15pm on Friday, April 29. Since then, police have made a series of arrests in connection with the investigation.
Arrests So Far
- A 26-year-old Southampton man was arrested for murder on April 30 and later bailed pending inquiries.
- On May 3, a 23-year-old woman was arrested for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs; she’s now been bailed until July 6.
- A 24-year-old man was arrested the same day on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and assisting an offender; also bailed until July 6.
- A 22-year-old man was also arrested for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, now bailed until July 5.
- Ashton Singh, 26, from Westridge Road, was charged with perverting the course of justice and remanded in custody after appearing at Southampton Magistrates on May 3.
Detectives Appeal for Information
“This remains an active murder investigation and we continue to encourage anyone who can assist us with our enquiries to come forward,” said Detective Superintendent Becky Riggs.
“We’ve arrested several people to uncover the full story of what happened before, during, and after Michael’s death. We’re deploying every resource to gather evidence and bring justice for Michael and his family.”
