Woman Killed after she was struck by Iceland Lorry on M4 Motorway in Berkshire

A woman has sadly died after she was struck by a lorry on the M4 in Berkshire in the early hours of this morning. Emergency services rushed to the scene between Junctions 10 and Junction 11 on the eastbound M4 motorway near Reading just after 3am. The woman was pronounced life extinct by Paramedics who attended a very distressing scene. He is now help Police with their investigation. Police Collision scene specialists are carrying out their investigations. Officers are trying to work out why the woman had been walking on the live carriage way of the busy motorway. Officers wearing blue gloves have carried out a finger tip search of the closed off area. The three lanes of the M4 Eastbound Still remain closed and the closures is said to remain until at least lunchtime. Many people trying to move around the area of Reading have abandoned their cars and carried out the journeys on foot to completed the school run and journeys into work Insp Andy Storey from Roads Policing said: “We would appeal to anyone who was driving on either the east or westbound carriageways of the M4 near Junction 11 at around 2.50am to contact Police as we are trying to determine the circumstances which led to a pedestrian being on the motorway. “In addition there are ongoing enquiries to identify the pedestrian at this time.” The road was closed for several hours as emergency services and the highways authority dealt with the incident but has since been reopened however it will take some time for traffic to run smoothly again.
