Armed Police Storm Property in Ventnor After Firearm Stand-Off
Armed officers were scrambled to a property in Bellevue Road, Ventnor, this evening following a tense stand-off with a man. The street was swiftly cordoned off, and residents told to stay indoors as two armed response units, backed by Island Police, moved in.
Road Locked Down as Police Launch Operation
Bellevue Road was sealed off just after 7pm with police cordons at both ends. The drama escalated when officers stormed the man’s room at The Burlington Hotel around 8.40pm using a specialist enforcer tool. Police swiftly arrested the man on suspicion of firearm offences and whisked him away in a van.
Hotel Staff Raise Alarm After Spotting Weapon
According to a police source, hotel staff raised the alarm after spotting a firearm on the third floor. Armed officers were called in as backup to secure the weapon, which was made safe on-site. The hotel is a three-star venue, and officers are currently conducting a fingertip search throughout the building.
Residents Left Stunned by Armed Police Presence
“My partner and I had just sat down for dinner when the road suddenly filled with cops,” a local woman said. “We saw two officers wearing black helmets and one with a shield. They definitely meant business. Then even more police arrived.”
