Ocado Assures Staff: No Job Losses Despite Devastating Andover Fire
Ocado has confirmed that all 700 employees based at its Andover site still have jobs, despite a massive fire that ripped through the facility. The company is keeping staff on full pay while it sorts out the chaos.
700 Workers Safe and Still Employed
“On Monday we had over 700 people employed in Andover and although we had a devastating fire, guess what – we still have over 700 employees!” says Ocado. The firm stressed that it values its staff hugely and will continue to pay everyone until further notice.
Support and Solidarity in Crisis
Ocado has set up a drop-in centre at The Hayward Suite, Wolversdene Club, Andover, offering refreshments and support for employees on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th from 10am.
“I’m extremely grateful for our onsite staff who’ve shown amazing strength and resilience over the past two days,” said the company spokesperson, praising team managers, operations, engineering, health & safety, IT, HR, and senior managers.
Heroes and Local Support Shine Through
Ocado paid tribute to the emergency services, calling the fire “the toughest one they’ve ever attended” but praising their efforts in keeping everyone safe. The company also thanked local businesses and organisations for their generosity:

- 1 for refreshments to staff
- Andover residents and businesses for their heartfelt support
“We are all feeling the love from Andover and thank you for showing such support at this difficult time,” said Ocado. The focus now is on recovery – but for now, the company’s people remain its top priority.
