M40 Shutdown After Serious Multi-Vehicle Crash Near High Wycombe
The M40 motorway is closed in both directions near High Wycombe after a major multi-vehicle collision snarled traffic and trapped hundreds of drivers. The chaos has been ongoing for over an hour, with the road expected to remain shut until at least 8pm on Sunday evening.
Emergency Services Swarm Scene
One stranded driver described dozens of ambulances, several helicopters, and multiple fire engines at the site. The motorway has been at a standstill for over an hour, sparking serious concern for those involved.
“I’m hoping everyone caught up in the crash is okay,” the driver said.
Clear-Up Underway, Officials Promise Relief
Officers at the scene said they are working to free trapped motorists soon. “We are clearing up debris and a spillage as quickly as possible to reopen the road,” a spokesperson said.
Highways England confirmed the motorway between Junction 4 and Junction 5 remains closed and that Thames Valley Police are leading the investigation. All emergency services are fully engaged at the scene.
