RAF Typhoon Scrambles to Intercept Mystery Jet Near London

An RAF fighter jet was scrambled in a rapid police operation on Tuesday after a private plane took off from Nuremberg just before 11am. The aircraft, a Bombardier Global Express, was ordered to communicate with air traffic control as RAF jets escorted it towards London.

Jet Intercepted Ten Miles East of Biggin Hill

The RAF fighters intercepted the corporate flight about ten miles east of Biggin Hill airfield over Kent. The plane was en route from Nuremberg, Germany, to a London airport. Meanwhile, a police helicopter shadowed the flight throughout the incident.

Private Jet Lands Safely at Stansted

At 1.45pm, officials confirmed the private aircraft, carrying three crew members, had landed safely at Stansted Airport. The Met Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the interception, but have yet to release an official statement.
